HALIFAX MEN JAILED FOR RAPING VULNERABLE TEEN IN HUDDERSFIELD
Two men from Halifax, Mubasher Ahmad and Mehmood Hussain, aged 32, received nine-year prison sentences after being found guilty of raping a vulnerable 17-year-old girl in Huddersfield. The assault took place in October 2014, when Ahmad, seeking sexual activity, picked up the girl after she was stranded following an argument with a friend.
He provided her with food and drinks before leading her to a remote location where he assaulted her, making it clear she did not give her consent.
Later, he drove her to a meeting with Hussain, who also raped her before returning her home.
The court heard that neither man used violence to coerce her; however, she was described as a 'lone vulnerable female' out late at night who did not agree to the sexual acts.
The Court of Appeal rejected their appeal against the convictions, affirming that the evidence supported the guilty verdicts and that the sentences were appropriate.
The judges highlighted that the crimes were sustained over a period and targeted a young, vulnerable, and isolated girl, and therefore saw no reason to alter the sentences.
The appeals were dismissed, upholding the convictions as 'safe.'
