MANSFIELD MAN MARTIN SOCHA ESCAPES PRISON AFTER VOYEURISM AT WATER MEADOWS

In a case that has shocked the Mansfield community, 44-year-old Martin Socha from Dozen Drive in Mansfield was sentenced in connection with a disturbing incident of voyeurism that took place at Water Meadows. The incident, which occurred in April 2018, involved Socha secretly filming individuals in a state of undress within the unisex changing facilities.

Socha appeared before Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of voyeurism. The charges stemmed from an incident on April 27, 2018, when police reports indicated that Socha had used a small camera to record people in the act of changing clothes at Water Meadows, a popular recreational area in Mansfield.

The police investigation was triggered in September 2017, when a family reported a disturbing discovery. They had been using the unisex changing cubicles when they noticed a device being held above them, seemingly aimed at capturing their activities. The family’s concern prompted immediate action, and Socha was detained at the scene until law enforcement officers arrived.

During his arrest, officers conducted a search and found a tiny spy camera concealed in Socha’s sock. The device was still active at the time, indicating that he had been actively recording. Further investigation revealed that Socha had also been spying on another woman, adding to the severity of his actions.

In addition to the suspended prison sentence of six months, which will be served over a two-year period, Socha was subjected to strict legal restrictions. He was issued a seven-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to prevent any future offenses of a similar nature. Furthermore, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next seven years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
