SEX OFFENDER CAUGHT WITH STASH OF CHILD PORN
A 37-YEAR-OLD man who was found with more than 1,000 indecent photographs of children on his computer has been ordered to carry out 200 hours unpaid work.Martin John Hendron pleaded guilty to the offence which happened at his home in Kittlegairy Road, Peebles, last year.
Procurator Fiscal Tessa Bradley told a previous hearing of Selkirk Sheriff Court that last June police received information through intelligence resources that someone had accessed images of children from a computer registered to the property.
She continued: “A warrant was granted to search this address.
Officers attended at the address at 8.50am on Tuesday, June 11.
They were given access by the accused and his wife was also there.” Ms Bradley said Hendron told police that years ago he had come across a film which was not nice and he had deleted it.
But she said that the content of a laptop and hard drive showed up 1,000 images of children and indicated the search terms found in the recycle bin were Lolita Teen and Nudist kids.” Hendron attended at Livingston Police Station on August 13 where he was detained and made no reply after being cautioned and charged.
The vast majority of the images, more than 1,000 of them, were level one which was the least serious category and with five images at level two and three at level four.
Defence lawyer Mat Patrick said his client had resigned from his job as a result of the offence.
Sheriff Peter Paterson imposed a two years and four months supervision order and ordered Hendron’s name be placed on the Sex Offenders Register in addition to the unpaid work.
