MARTIN ASHMORE FROM MANSFIELD AND SLEAFORD SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IN LINCOLNSHIRE

In a case that has shocked the local communities of Mansfield and Sleaford, Martin Ashmore, a 58-year-old man from Spring Gardens in Sleaford, has been sentenced to over six years in prison for serious sexual offenses committed against two young girls during the early to mid-1990s.

According to Nottinghamshire Police, Ashmore was characterized as a "manipulative and predatory" offender, highlighting the calculated nature of his crimes.

The abuse against one of the victims was particularly disturbing, as Ashmore assaulted her multiple times, beginning when she was only 11 years old.

These heinous acts took place at various addresses within the Mansfield area, where Ashmore was residing during the time of the offenses.

The crimes remained hidden for years until the victim, now an adult, decided to come forward and report the abuse to the authorities last year.

This brave step led to a police investigation that ultimately uncovered the extent of Ashmore’s misconduct.

During police interviews, Ashmore initially refused to comment on the allegations, providing no response when questioned by detectives.

However, he later confessed to four counts of indecent assault, which were prosecuted under the Sexual Offences Act 1953.

Three of these counts pertained to his first victim, while the fourth involved an additional victim in the Newark area, indicating a pattern of predatory behavior spanning multiple locations.

On Monday, February 1, Ashmore appeared before Nottingham Crown Court to face justice.

The court sentenced him to a term of six years and nine months in prison, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the impact on his victims.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for victims to come forward, regardless of how much time has passed since the abuse occurred.
