NORTHAMPTON MAN JAILED FOR LIFE AFTER BRUTAL DOMESTIC MURDER
Martin Ashby was found guilty of murder and received a life prison term for his role in the death of Louise Webster. The crime took place inside her residence in Roade, near Northampton, where he fatally stabbed her.
The victim’s family criticized the police for their slow response after an emergency call, claiming officers were too occupied to arrive promptly.
Despite being in close proximity, police did not arrive until twenty minutes later, only reaching the scene after another officer responded.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) stated that the officers’ delayed response was deeply troubling, especially since two children were present during the incident.
The victim’s father and sister voiced their frustration, asserting that police should have been dismissed for their apparent negligence.
They believed that if the police had responded swiftly, Ashby could have been detained, possibly avoiding the tragic outcome.
The court’s sentencing confirmed Ashby’s imprisonment for life, signifying a very long or possibly lifelong incarceration.
This case has garnered significant attention as an example of police inaction in domestic violence cases.
