MARK TEBBUTT FROM LEICESTER SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING SCHOOLGIRLS AND PAEDOPHILIA
In a case that has shocked the community of Leicester, Mark Anthony Tebbutt, a man with a disturbing history of sexual offenses, was sentenced to serve a minimum of six years in prison for his heinous crimes involving young girls.The court proceedings revealed a pattern of predatory behavior that spanned several years, causing immense suffering to his victims.
Back in September 2008, Tebbutt, then aged 43, pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the sexual abuse of two schoolgirls.
His crimes included grooming a seven-year-old girl, subjecting her to psychological torment, confusion, and physical abuse.
The court heard that Tebbutt engaged in acts that involved handcuffing the young girl, blindfolding her, and forcing her to participate in what was described as a “rape game.” These acts were carried out almost daily over a prolonged period, leaving the victim with lasting trauma.
In addition to the abuse of the seven-year-old, Tebbutt also indecently touched another girl at a social gathering, further demonstrating his predatory tendencies.
The court was informed that Tebbutt, who was formerly residing in Stocking Farm and Beaumont Leys in Leicester, pleaded guilty to two counts of gross indecency and seven counts of sexual activity with a child, including sexual intercourse, all involving the young girl over several years.
The victim eventually confided in her mother, which led to Tebbutt’s arrest and subsequent prosecution.
Furthermore, Tebbutt admitted to engaging in sexual activity with another girl, aged 13, between April and June of the previous year.
The mothers of both victims were present in court to witness the sentencing, underscoring the gravity of his offenses.
Historical records revealed that Tebbutt’s criminal behavior was not isolated.
In 1996, he was jailed for 15 months after being convicted of indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
His previous offense involved breaking into her home by climbing through a window and assaulting her in her bedroom, highlighting a pattern of dangerous and invasive conduct.
During the sentencing hearing, Sally Bamford, representing Tebbutt, stated that her client expressed genuine remorse for his actions.
She emphasized that his guilty pleas were the only mitigating factor in his case.
However, Judge Christopher Plunkett was unequivocal in his assessment, describing Tebbutt as a “plainly and simply dangerous” individual.
The judge emphasized that Tebbutt posed a significant risk to the public and that his continued liberty could result in further serious harm.
Judge Plunkett ordered that Tebbutt be imprisoned for public protection, making it clear that if he were ever released and violated the terms of his license, he would be recalled to prison and remain there.
Since his release in January 2017, Tebbutt has been seen back in Leicester, raising concerns about the potential risk he still poses to the community.
The case underscores the importance of vigilant monitoring and the ongoing threat posed by individuals with a history of sexual offenses against minors.
