MARK FINNEY JAILED AFTER BEING CONVICTED OF SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A YOUNG GIRL FOR A SECOND TIME
In April 2025, Mark Finney was again convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl.
The assault was uncovered after the victim confided in her mother, prompting an investigation by Nottinghamshire Police.
Finney, then 42, originally pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to guilty after police gathered crucial DNA evidence, resulting in a charge of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching.
On 4 November 2025, he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court and was sentenced to an extended sentence of eight years and nine months—comprising four years and nine months in custody with an additional four-year extension period.
Finney, previously residing on Bowman Avenue, Friskney, is now on the sex offenders register and has been made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order that will tightly restrict his activities once he is released from prison.
In June 2014, Mark David Finney, a former Mansfield Woodhouse resident now living in Spilsby, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl.
The assault occurred last year when Finney was 30 years old.
Despite the seriousness of the offense, Finney was not imprisoned but received a six-month jail sentence, suspended for 24 months.
He was also ordered to complete a 24-month community order with a supervision requirement and was placed under a sexual offences prevention order (SOPO) for five years.
The court imposed several restrictions on Finney’s activities, including: 1) Not to reside in the same household as any female under 16 unless an adult aware of his conviction is present.
2) Not to have any unsupervised contact with female children under 16.
3) Not to enter swimming pools, schools, or children’s play areas during the supervision period.
Additionally, Finney is permanently banned from working with children.
Nottingham Crown Court emphasized the restrictions, underscoring the importance of supervision and safeguarding for vulnerable young girls.
