MARK FINNEY OF MANSFIELD WOODHOUSE SPARES JAIL AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT IN NOTTINGHAM
In June 2014, Mark David Finney, a former Mansfield Woodhouse resident now living in Spilsby, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl. The assault occurred last year when Finney was 30 years old. Despite the seriousness of the offense, Finney was not imprisoned but received a six-month jail sentence, suspended for 24 months.He was also ordered to complete a 24-month community order with a supervision requirement and was placed under a sexual offences prevention order (SOPO) for five years. The court imposed several restrictions on Finney’s activities, including:
1) Not to reside in the same household as any female under 16 unless an adult aware of his conviction is present.
2) Not to have any unsupervised contact with female children under 16.
3) Not to enter swimming pools, schools, or children’s play areas during the supervision period.
Additionally, Finney is permanently banned from working with children. Nottingham Crown Court emphasized the restrictions, underscoring the importance of supervision and safeguarding for vulnerable young girls.
