STOCKPORT WOMAN JAILED FOR LIFE AFTER DEADLY STABBING OF PARTNER
A woman named Lisa Withers, aged 49, was convicted of murdering her partner, Jason Capper, in Stockport, Greater Manchester. She was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 26 years.
The trial revealed she and Capper had a volatile relationship spanning over four years, during which both drank heavily.
On October 24, 2015, during a family dispute, Withers repeatedly knifed Capper in the back and neck as he was scuffling with her son Christopher on the street.
Witnesses overheard her shouting, 'I hope you f****** die, you b******,' after the attack.
Capper was stabbed seven times in the back, neck, and shoulder, and died in hospital less than an hour later despite attempts to revive him.
During police interviews, Withers claimed she 'just lost it' and didn't know what she was doing, saying, 'I just lost the plot.' She denied murder, claiming she was a victim of domestic abuse, and tried to explain her actions as a reaction to Capper’s violence towards her that day.
The court found her guilty of murder, describing her attack as 'remorseless' and 'vicious.' Her defense argued she was in a domestic abuse situation, but the judge stated her response was wholly disproportionate.
Evidence included a blood-stained knife found in her kitchen and her blood-stained clothing.
Capper’s family described the attack as 'frenzied,' emphasizing their devastations and that her words, such as 'let him die,' would haunt them forever.
She will be eligible for parole in 2042, at age 74.
The judge condemned her actions, noting she went into her home to retrieve the knife and knew what she was going to do, with CCTV footage and witness testimony supporting this.
Neighbors reported hearing her shout, 'You deserved it you b******,' during the incident.
The case highlighted a tragic violent escalation and the impact of domestic disputes on real lives.
