BANGOR PAEDOPHILE TEACHER LINDSAY BROWN PLANS MOVE TO PETTIGO AFTER RELEASE

In August 2001, concerns are mounting among former students of Lindsay Brown, a convicted paedophile and former vice principal at Bangor Grammar School, as he prepares to be released from prison. These victims are determined to monitor his movements closely, fearing that he may attempt to evade scrutiny and continue his predatory behavior.

Brown, who was convicted in 1998 of abusing boys over a span of more than a decade, is believed to be planning a relocation to the border village of Pettigo, a place he reportedly owns property in. This information has been circulated among the victims and local communities, with warnings that residents should remain vigilant, especially regarding young boys, as Brown, nicknamed 'Pogo' by former students, could pose a renewed threat.

During his trial, Brown was found guilty of nine counts of indecent assault and two counts of gross indecency, all involving male pupils aged between 11 and 13. The crimes took place during Bible-reading weekends from 1968 to 1991. Despite the severity of his offenses, none of his victims have received any form of compensation or restitution for the trauma inflicted upon them.

Now, as Brown approaches his release, reports indicate that he has been learning Gaelic and is planning to move to a residence in Pettigo, situated on the border between Fermanagh and Donegal. Victims and community members express concern that his release in August 2001 will allow him to continue his sinister pursuits involving young boys.

There are claims that Brown has already been out of prison and stayed with his brother, Godfrey Brown, a former Presbyterian Church Moderator, in Ballycastle. An online website has even published detailed information about Godfrey’s whereabouts and contact details, including his home telephone number. The website ominously states that Brown, now speaking Gaelic, may be planning a move to the Republic of Ireland after staying with his brother at the Ballycastle Manse, describing him as 'His Most Godly Magnificence Brown.'

Brown, a resident of Bangor, has served approximately three and a half years of his seven-year sentence for child sex offenses. He is scheduled to be released on parole on Friday, August 17, and will be registered on the RUC’s Sex Offenders’ Register, heightening concerns among the community and his victims about the potential for further offenses.
