RESPECTED FOOTBALL COACH JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
A respected football coach has been jailed for six-and-a-half years for sexual attacks two young girls.
Lee Scott, 50, was well-thought-of and played an important role in grassroots football in his community.
His reputation is now in tatters after admitting to two separate attacks.
Scott subjected one victim to serious sexual assaults and asked the other to sit on his knee, which she refused, before he then rubbed her leg and asked for a kiss.
Scott, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a child by penetration and one of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
He was jailed for six-and-a-half years, of which he has to serve two-thirds behind bars.
He must also sign the sex offenders register for life, will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order indefinitely and was given a restraining order.
Recorder Caroline Goodwin KC told him: "Your offending has effectively taken the best years away from these two young children, as they were at the time." She added that he had "targeted" the "vulnerable" victims.
The second victim said: "He tried to take advantage of me and give me alcohol and asked me to kiss him.
I remember feeling sick to my stomach when it happened." The impact of his actions will stay with the victims for the rest of their lives.
"Lee Scott is not someone who made a mistake, he deliberately chose to manipulate and sexually abuse a child.
He is a dangerous man," the first victim expressed during the sentencing.
The sentences include serving two-thirds behind bars, indefinite registration on the sex offenders register, a sexual harm prevention order, and a restraining order.
The court highlighted Scott's targeting of vulnerable victims and his poor control under the influence of alcohol, noting his pre-occupation with sexual interest in children.
The defendant's defense acknowledged his understanding of the severity of his crimes and his loss of good character and reputation.
