CASTLEFORD WOMAN JAILED FOR EXPLOITING ELDERLY MAN WITH DEMENTIA
Leanne McFarlane, a woman from Castleford, has been sentenced to prison following her involvement in a heinous act targeting an elderly man with dementia.
The incident began when she encountered the man in his garden and engaged in a sex act on him in an attempt to distract him, subsequently taking money from his wallet.
The court was informed that her misconduct persisted as she made multiple attempts to gain access to his home, including banging on his door late at night while he was likely asleep.
CCTV footage captured her stealing from the victim’s wallet and later showed her banging on his door around 10 pm before entering and committing sexual acts inside.
Although she was not charged with a sexual offence, she admitted to two counts of burglary and one count of attempted burglary.
The court heard that McFarlane had a difficult upbringing, suffers from epilepsy, and faces mental health challenges such as a personality disorder and depression.
Her actions, which involved exploiting a vulnerable individual, led to her receiving a sentence of two years and four months in prison, along with a restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim.
