WOMAN JAILED FOR SEX OFFENCES WITH VULNERABLE CHILD

2026-05-20 11:37: A mother of two with a history of paedophilia was summoned back to court after being released early from prison.

Former care worker Laura Bardsley, who has shamefully admitted to engaging in sexual activities with a 15-year-old boy, was involved in the case.

At 31 years old, she served half of her six-year sentence behind bars.

However, she appeared before magistrates once more when she 'forgot' to register as a sex offender after her release.

She fulfilled the registration requirement on December 16, 2024, but did not attend again on December 16, 2025.

The registration was finally completed on December 31 after the probation service prompted her to do so.

Prosecutor Emma Sockett stated: “This is the first breach of the order by the defendant.

It is a minor breach and caused little or no harm." Defence solicitor Sonya O'Brien explained: "On this occasion, she simply forgot her licence requirements.

She went to the police station and registered, although late.

She was advised that charges would follow for the breach.

That’s all there is to it.” A probation officer reported that Bardsley had attended 168 out of 224 scheduled post-sentence supervision appointments without unacceptable absences.

She added: "She is currently engaged with a women’s centre and is working on her mental health as well as using toolkits to address her criminal behaviour.

I believe her current arrangements are adequate for managing her in the community." --------------------------- 2021-05-20 00:01: In May 2021, a 26-year-old woman faced sentencing after grooming a 15-year-old schoolboy through manipulative and sexually charged messages.

The case revealed that the woman, a former care worker named Laura Bardsley from Reddish, Greater Manchester, engaged the boy in at least 15 instances of sexual activity between June and September of the previous year.

The boy's parents, who had been caring for him, had extended support to Bardsley during a difficult period in her relationship, unaware of her intentions.

The grooming began with innocent-looking Facebook messages, which soon escalated to inquiries about the boy’s sexual preferences, along with her sharing explicit details of her own relationship.

She later invited him to visit her home, where she displayed affection and even discussed intimate topics, including unprotected sex and morning-after pills, before she took him to a hotel on one occasion.

Concerned parents noticed their son’s increasing time spent at her address and his declining interest in hobbies, raising suspicions.

Bardsley admitted to multiple charges including engaging in sexual activity with a minor, harassment, and possession of a prohibited item in prison.

She was sentenced to six years in prison at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court.

Her victim’s mother issued a statement expressing distress over her son’s manipulation and behavioral changes, including truancy and emotional distress.

She added that it would take time for her son to fully understand and recover from the trauma.

Evidence revealed that the boy often stayed late into the night at her home, and Bardsley expressed her love for him through letters and conversations.

The relationship was eventually uncovered when the victim’s parents found love letters during a bedroom tidy-up, leading to police involvement.

Despite efforts to keep the relationship secret, Bardsley continued messaging and urging the boy to erase evidence of their contact.

She was arrested in September after further suspicions arose, but she initially denied any sexual activity, and the boy hesitated to give a statement.

Her behaviour worsened post-arrest, with her creating multiple social media accounts and contacting him and his new girlfriend.

She was remanded in custody in February, with a phone in her possession during her detention.

During sentencing, the judge criticised Bardsley’s exploitation of the boy’s vulnerability, especially given her role as a mother herself.

Bardsley was also ordered to comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and to register as a sex offender for life, emphasizing the severity of her actions and their impact on her victim.
