LIVERPOOL MAN JAILED FOR SERIAL RAPES AND ASSAULT ON YOUNG GIRLS
A man from Liverpool, David Dowd, aged 51, was sentenced to 19 years in prison for multiple sexual offenses including repeatedly raping a schoolgirl and attempting to rape another young girl.During the sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court, Dowd was reported to have collapsed in the dock and was caught by two dock officers to prevent him from hitting the floor.
After a brief adjournment, Judge Norman Wright continued the sentencing, and Dowd was seen shaking uncontrollably as he was led back to the cells.
Dowd was convicted of four counts of raping the older girl and nine counts of indecent assault on her, as well as attempted rape, indecent assault, and voyeurism against the younger girl.
The trial revealed that Dowd began abusing the older victim at age nine and raped her at fifteen.
He also abused the younger girl when she was six and attempted to rape her when she was 13, as well as secretly filmed her.
Dowd denied all allegations, claiming his victims were lying.
His partner in the public gallery, aged 18, was present, and Dowd plans to marry her.
The judge sentenced him to 15 years for the offenses against the older girl and an additional four years consecutively for offenses against the younger girl.
The abuse was described as having a 'corrosive effect' impacting the victims.
Dowd was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and was subject to an indefinite sexual offences prevention order banning him from being alone with anyone under 16.
