ONLINE STING LEADS TO WEMBLEY ARREST, POLICE INVESTIGATE
A man has been arrested following an online child-safeguarding operation carried out by Red Rose UK.Yasin Rashid was identified after engaging in inappropriate online communications with two separate decoy accounts operated as part of the group’s safeguarding work.
On the first decoy account, Rashid is alleged to have communicated across three different messaging platforms over a period of several weeks.
During this time, he repeatedly blocked and unblocked the account, continuing contact despite the apparent age of the child being made clear.
The conversations are said to have escalated into highly inappropriate territory, with Rashid allegedly requesting and sharing unlawful material before eventually blocking the account again.
Shortly afterwards, Rashid is alleged to have initiated contact with a second decoy account.
From the outset, he acknowledged the child’s age.
Within a small number of messages, the interaction again escalated, with Rashid allegedly sending explicit material and requesting to be added to a group chat involving the child’s school friends, significantly increasing safeguarding concerns.
Following the handover of evidence, Rashid was arrested in Wembley.
He provided a no-comment interview and was later released on police bail pending a full forensic download and examination of his mobile phone.
Police have confirmed the investigation remains ongoing.
No conclusions have been reached at this stage, and Rashid will be dealt with in accordance with due process once enquiries are complete.
