RAPIST LURED A WOMAN TO A HOTEL UNDER THE FALSE PROMISE OF EMPLOYMENT.
A man responsible for luring a woman to a hotel under the guise of helping her find employment has been convicted of rape.This conviction follows an investigation that underscores the Metropolitan Police’s efforts to address violence against women and girls throughout London.
Gurwinder Singh, aged 37 (born 17 December 1988), of Kingshill Avenue, Northolt, was found guilty at Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday, 18 February.
He was convicted of multiple offenses including rape, attempted rape, sexual assault by penetration, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of common assault.
His sentencing is scheduled for Wednesday, 15 April, at the same court.
Authorities believe Singh’s criminal activity might extend beyond the charges and are urging any other potential victims to come forward.
The case began when, on 22 June 2025, a woman contacted police to report she had been raped at a hotel in Paddington.
She explained to detectives that she had been given contact details for someone who could help her with job opportunities and had communicated with this individual via WhatsApp.
The woman thought she was speaking to a woman who claimed she could secure care worker shifts in exchange for her national insurance number and passport details.
She was directed to an address in Paddington, where she was instructed to meet on 21 June to assist with caring for a sportsman with significant injuries.
Upon arrival at the station, she was greeted by a man claiming to be a care assistant.
They traveled together to a hotel, where he left her in a room indicating the patient would arrive shortly.
Soon after, the same man returned, claiming to be the injured sportsman and disrobing to request a massage.
When she refused, he became physically aggressive, assaulting and raping her.
The woman managed to escape the hotel and was aided by members of the public in entering a taxi.
Later that evening, she received a phone call from the person who arranged the job, threatening her with recording the incident and warning that it could become viral if reported to authorities.
