KEVIN DONLON SALFORD PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED FOR DECADES OF ABUSE
In a case that spanned nearly two decades of heinous crimes, Kevin Donlon, a man from Salford, has finally been brought to justice for his prolonged history of child sexual abuse.The lengthy ordeal began in 1993 when police initially investigated allegations that Donlon was molesting a schoolgirl.
Despite the investigation, no charges were filed at that time, and Donlon continued his predatory behavior, believing himself to be beyond the reach of law enforcement.
His dark history includes offenses against two other young girls, with incidents dating back to the early 1980s.
These crimes, committed over a span of approximately 20 years, paint a disturbing picture of a man who repeatedly exploited vulnerable victims over a significant period.
It was only recently that justice was served.
Donlon, now aged 49 and residing on Scott Lane in Salford, was sentenced to 15 years in prison at Manchester Crown Court after being convicted of ten child sex offenses, including attempted rape.
The conviction followed a renewed investigation prompted by a woman who came forward to report that Donlon had abused her when she was just 16 years old.
This new complaint led authorities to uncover two additional victims, one of whom was the girl involved in the 1993 investigation.
Throughout the trial, Donlon maintained his innocence, denying all allegations.
However, the jury found him guilty of all charges.
During sentencing, Judge Suzanne Goddard QC expressed regret that Donlon had not pleaded guilty earlier, noting that his refusal to do so had caused his victims unnecessary pain.
The judge criticized Donlon’s defense, which involved accusations of conspiracy and lying, actions that only added to the distress experienced by the victims.
Judge Goddard described Donlon’s actions as ‘depraved’ and ‘vile,’ emphasizing the profound and lasting harm inflicted upon the three women who had the courage to testify against him.
She highlighted Donlon’s manipulative tendencies, noting his tendency to use his physical presence and reputation to intimidate others and get his way.
As part of his sentence, Donlon is required to sign the sex offenders register for life.
Additionally, a sexual harm prevention order has been imposed to restrict his future contact with children, aiming to prevent any further harm.
The case underscores the importance of persistent investigation and the bravery of victims who come forward to seek justice against those who abuse their trust.
