MAN WHO RAPED AND STRANGLED WOMAN JAILED FOR 18 YEARS
A man from Barry who locked a woman inside an address before raping her has been jailed.Kenneth Crane, aged 43, caused his victim to feel suicidal through months of abuse from September 2024 to April 2025.
At one point, he confined her inside a property and demanded access to her phone messages.
The following morning, he forced her into performing oral sex and then raped her.
On another occasion, Crane brandished a kitchen knife, pressing it against her face and threatening to inflict harm if she did not hand over her phone.
He also spilled coffee over her, compelled her to clean it up, and then restrained her against a door frame while strangling her.
The woman revealed that Crane had threatened to circulate private images of her on social media.
After enduring ongoing abuse, she contacted South Wales Police.
Crane was arrested and faced multiple charges, including two counts of rape, false imprisonment on two occasions, threatening with an offensive weapon, intentional strangulation, and sharing an intimate photograph intending to alarm or humiliate.
He admitted to sharing the photograph but pleaded not guilty to the other charges.
On October 24, following a trial at Cardiff Crown Court, Crane was convicted of all the charges.
He was sentenced on November 26 to 15 years in prison, with his sentence extended to 18 years due to the severity of his crimes.
