MAN JAILED FOR RAPE
A 50-year-old man of Ipswich has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of sexual assault.Keith McKenzie, residing on Bond Street, was found guilty of two counts of rape by a jury on 23 February 2026 after a trial that lasted five days.
The victim, a woman in her twenties, was a neighbor at the same apartment block as McKenzie at the time of the offenses, but the two were not otherwise acquainted.
In the early hours, the woman was woken by knocking on her front door and contacted a friend who lives nearby for help.
When she opened the door, McKenzie asked for a cigarette, which her friend provided, and then left to return to his flat.
Subsequently, McKenzie entered her flat without permission and committed the rape, despite her protests.
After the assault, he left the scene and warned her not to tell anyone.
Police arrested McKenzie later that morning.
He appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, 28 May, where he received a 12-year sentence.
This sentence will run consecutively to a prior sentence from the previous year for wounding with intent to cause serious injury.
Additionally, McKenzie was placed under an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and registered as a sex offender.
