WEMYSS BAY WOMAN WITH BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER LASHES OUT AT EX AFTER SOCIAL SERVICES CALL
A woman aged 21 with borderline personality disorder assaulted her former partner in Wemyss Bay after he called her an 'unfit mother', a court has been told.Kayleigh Gittens punched the man on the head following anger over him contacting social workers about her.
She 'lost control' and lashed out at him during a confrontation near the ferry terminal.
Her lawyer stated: "She is a single mother who has borderline personality disorder which is controlled by medication.
That is a factor in what happened." The court heard she formerly stayed with the complainant, and there were domestic arguments which led to their separation.
Civil proceedings are ongoing.
The lawyer explained: "A difficulty arose due to behaviour which would be considered provocative.
The complainer made reports to social services suggesting Miss Gittens was not fit to be a mother." Prosecutor Michael Cunningham said: "An altercation resulted in the complainer being struck in the face around 1:10 pm on January 9.
She had begun to act aggressively by shouting and swearing." The disorder was described as severely impacting her ability to regulate emotions.
Sheriff Michael Higgins deferred sentencing until November 9 for her to be of good behaviour.
Her address was not specified.
