HORIFFIC CHILD SEX ABUSER GETS EARLY RELEASE DESPITE OUTRAGE
Angela MacDonald, a survivor of child sex abuse, was abused by her paedophile step-grandad John Kerr between August 1, 2011 and February 28, 2012.She was just eleven years old when he first preyed on her.
Kerr, 49, was later found to have sexually assaulted a 16-year-old woman at a property in Largs in 2017.
He was jailed for three years and five months at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on January 12 last year.
However, a letter sent to his victims by the Scottish Prison Service said Kerr was released on Friday October 10 - after serving just half of his sentence.
Angela fears her attacker will target more kids after his early release.
She revealed she had a nervous breakdown after discovering his release and believes Kerr remains a danger to children, having attacked her six years after abusing her.
She knows she will have to live with trauma for the rest of her life but is speaking out to raise awareness so Kerr never harms another child again.
Angela also found out about Kerr's other victim a few years ago and reported him, attending support sessions for childhood sexual trauma.
She emphasizes that Kerr's behavior is deeply ingrained and that the justice system's early release decision was devastating.
Victim Support Scotland advocates for a more victim-centred, transparent, and trauma-informed approach to the justice system.
