WEMYSS BAY MAN DENIES SENDING SEXUAL MESSAGES TO '13-YEAR-OLDS'
A WEMYSS Bay man is to stand trial charged with sending messages of a sexual nature to undercover police officers he believed to be 13-year-old girls.Ryan McPhail, 44, is alleged to have been in contact with an adult decoy between February and May of 2023.
During this time, prosecutors say he repeatedly offered to show his genitals to the ‘teenager’.
McPhail is charged with sending sexual images of himself to her for the purposes of obtaining sexual gratification, or of humiliating, distressing or alarming her.
He faces a separate charge relating to similar alleged behaviour between March 2023 and June 2023, when he is accused of sending sexual written communications to an undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old.
McPhail pleaded not guilty to the allegations through defence solicitor Terry Gallanagh during a brief hearing at Greenock Sheriff Court.
Sheriff Sean Lynch set a trial for May 19.
