KASIM HUSSAIN'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN DARWEN: TEENAGER RAPES AND PREDATORY ATTACKS NEAR RAILWAY LINE AND BOLD VENTURE PARK

In a disturbing series of events that have shocked the community of Darwen, a young man named Kasim Hussain has been found guilty of heinous crimes involving the sexual assault of two underage girls. The incidents, which took place within the town of Darwen, have sparked widespread concern and outrage among residents and authorities alike.

According to court proceedings, Hussain, aged 19, committed his first assault on April 25 near the Darwen railway line. He targeted a 15-year-old girl who was simply walking home, unaware of the danger lurking nearby. The court heard that Hussain forcibly grabbed her and dragged her into a secluded alleyway, where he subjected her to a sexual assault. The victim, who struggled desperately to escape, was ultimately overpowered by Hussain before he released her. This attack left her traumatized, and she bravely contacted the police afterward to report the incident.

Less than five weeks later, Hussain committed a second assault, this time in Bold Venture Park, a well-known public space within Darwen. He approached a 14-year-old girl, initially attempting to establish a connection with her under the pretense of friendship. The girl believed they were simply acquaintances and agreed to meet him in the park, thinking it was a harmless social encounter. However, once she arrived alone, Hussain launched a brutal attack in the open area of the park, raping her in a shocking display of predatory behavior. Both victims, who are legally protected from being named, demonstrated remarkable bravery by reporting the assaults to the police.

Following a thorough four-day trial, the jury unanimously convicted Hussain on both counts of rape. The court heard that the first victim struggled valiantly but was unable to escape his grasp. The second victim’s account detailed how she was deceived into meeting Hussain, only to be assaulted in a public space. The police and support services have since provided both girls with specialist assistance to help them cope with the trauma.

Detectives from Lancashire Police’s Engage team, which focuses on combating child sexual exploitation, have expressed confidence that Hussain will face a significant prison sentence when he is sentenced at Preston Crown Court. Detective Sergeant Mark Whelan, who led the investigation, described Hussain as a dangerous individual who exploited vulnerable young girls for his own gratification. He emphasized the police’s commitment to targeting offenders like Hussain, stating, “This type of predatory crime will not be tolerated and we will continue to target, warn, and prosecute offenders to send a clear message that such behavior is criminal and unacceptable.”

Hussain has been remanded on bail and is scheduled to appear again at Preston Crown Court for sentencing on November 16.
