NOTTINGHAM SEX OFFENDER KARL SHERISTON JAILED FOR VIRTUAL CHILD ABUSE
A pervert is "grateful to police for stopping his behaviour" after a sickening catalogue of virtual sex crimes.Karl Sheriston is starting a six-year prison sentence after he forced a child into a sex act online.
The sickening incident was aired in a courtroom which also heard about a string of shocking offending by the 37-year-old.
The girl sent him a photo of her face - where she appeared to be 12 to 14 years old - Nottingham Crown Court heard.
He sent her a photo with his shirt unbuttoned and intimate pictures of himself, before asking her to perform the sex act.
Judge Stuart Rafferty QC gave him the six years on this offence alone, telling Sheriston she was "sadistically encouraged" by him to repeatedly carry out the act (over the internet) despite the fact she was in pain.
The judge also said he was satisfied he presented a real risk to other children of committing "serious acts like this", as he imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years.
He said he would serve two thirds of his sentence and then be on extended licence for four years on his release, and on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.
The main offence was phrased as "inciting a child to sexual activity".
And Sheriston facedconcurrent sentences for offences involving two more girls and possessing and distributing indecent images.
One involved sexual communication with a child, who said she was 15, and another concerned inciting sexual exploitation of a 17-year-old.
He is deeply ashamed and able to recognise the harm that has been caused to these children.
He has no previous experience of the criminal justice system.
The offending took place in less than two months.
The defendant, now of no fixed address, was caught after a police online sting in a chatroom.
A policewoman was pretending to be a 14-year-old girl.
She was first contacted by the defendant with the user name "Need Skwl Girls".
After winning her trust, married Sheriston moved the conversation onto sexual themes - including asking for a photo of her in her school uniform, and he started to arrange to meet her at McDonalds.
