KARL AINSWORTH'S RECKLESS DRIVING IN MACCLESFIELD LEADS TO 18-MONTH JAIL SENTENCE

Karl Ainsworth, a 31-year-old resident of Macclesfield, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison following a series of dangerous driving offenses and related criminal conduct. The incident that led to his conviction occurred on June 24, when Ainsworth engaged in a highly reckless act on a D-road in the vicinity of Macclesfield. Reports indicate that he was driving at an alarming speed of 90 miles per hour, a clear violation of traffic laws and a significant threat to public safety.

During this high-speed pursuit, Ainsworth attempted to overtake an unmarked police vehicle, a maneuver that was both risky and poorly judged. His intention appeared to be to undertake the police car, but he miscalculated the distance and timing, which resulted in a collision with another vehicle and a lorry. Despite the crash, Ainsworth did not stop his vehicle immediately. Instead, he continued driving recklessly, showing a blatant disregard for the law and the safety of others.

Eventually, he abandoned his vehicle and his ex-partner at a KFC restaurant located in Sandyford, a suburb near Macclesfield, and fled the scene on foot. His escape was short-lived, as police officers quickly located him hiding behind a wall nearby. A subsequent breathalyzer test revealed that Ainsworth was over the legal alcohol limit, registering 46 micrograms of alcohol per 100 milliliters of breath. It was also established that he was not insured to drive his ex-partner’s Audi S3 during the incident, further complicating his legal situation.

Following the collision, Ainsworth failed to stop for the police, prompting a chase that culminated in his detention at the KFC car park. The police apprehended him there, bringing his reckless behavior to an end. The case was brought before Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, where the judge sentenced him to 18 months in prison and disqualified him from driving for three years. The judge described Ainsworth’s conduct as 'obnoxious' and criticized his blatant disregard for a restraining order, which he had ignored while engaging in dangerous driving that posed a serious risk to public safety.

During the court proceedings, Ainsworth pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including failing to stop after an accident, dangerous driving, failing to stop when required, driving without a license and insurance, and drink-driving. He was also convicted of harassment and breaching a restraining order, highlighting the extent of his criminal behavior. The court emphasized the gravity of his actions, underlining the threat his reckless driving posed to the community and the importance of upholding the law to protect public safety.
