JULIAN LAST CAUGHT IN OXFORD WITH CHILD AND ANIMAL INDECENT IMAGES IN A DESPERATE BID TO CURE HIS DESIRE
In a case that has drawn significant attention at Oxford Crown Court, Julian Last, a 31-year-old man currently without a fixed residence, faced serious charges related to the possession of indecent images.The court heard that Last had been living in Temple Road, Oxford, when he was apprehended during a police raid on September 15 of the previous year.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that Last had downloaded and stored a troubling collection of illicit material on two separate computers.
Specifically, the police found that Last possessed a total of 434 images and one video depicting children in explicit situations.
Among these, six images were classified as the most severe category, indicating the most serious level of indecency.
The material also included images of women engaged in sexual acts with animals, which Last admitted to viewing in an attempt to suppress his urges related to child abuse images.
In his police interview, Last openly confessed to the possession of these indecent materials.
He explained that his motivation for viewing such images was to try to curb his desire to look at pictures of children being abused.
Despite his efforts, Last acknowledged that he was aware of the disturbing nature of his actions and expressed feelings of shame and disgust.
He also clarified that he did not like to view images where children appeared distressed, but he recognized that behind the smiles and gritted teeth, there were screams, tears, and trauma that would likely haunt the children for the rest of their lives.
Last’s criminal history includes a conviction for indecent assault on a seven-year-old child dating back to the year 2000.
His current situation is further complicated by his living conditions, as he is presently residing in a tent, which underscores his lack of stable accommodation.
During the court proceedings, Steve Molloy, representing Last, stated that his client was expecting to face jail time.
Molloy emphasized Last’s honesty in admitting to viewing the illicit images and his awareness of the severity of his actions.
The defense highlighted Last’s acknowledgment of his shame and the fact that he was seeking ways to manage his urges, albeit unsuccessfully.
Judge Ian Pringle, presiding over the case, sentenced Last to a three-year community order.
The terms of the order include supervision and mandatory participation in a sexual offenders’ rehabilitation program.
The judge issued a stern warning that any breach of the order could result in a prison sentence, emphasizing the seriousness of the matter and giving Last a chance to reform.
Judge Pringle concluded by advising Last, “I’m giving you a chance.
Take it.”
