DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIM SPEAKS OUT AS OFFENDER SENTENCED TO PRISON
Jordan McMahon, 27, has been convicted and sentenced for a violent domestic assault on Nicole Hollinshead in Brinnington, Stockport.The victim, Nicole, a 26-year-old survivor of domestic abuse, described how she was left fearing for her life after a brutal attack.
She stated, "He was stomping on me and kicking me.
I was screaming and begging for him to stop.
He got on top of me and began to strangle me.
I thought I was going to die." Nicole recounted that after a night out, they returned to his flat when he suddenly turned violent.
"He started to accuse me of cheating and then completely snapped," she said.
She was punched, kicked, and left with severe injuries, including a bust nose and huge bruises, which necessitated hospital treatment.
Police quickly arrived after neighbors heard her screaming, and McMahon was arrested.
He faced multiple charges, including causing grievous bodily harm with intent, non-fatal strangulation, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of cocaine.
In court, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of s20 GBH, which carries a maximum sentence of five years, along with the other charges.
He was sentenced on April 11 to 32 months in prison and received a five-year restraining order to protect Nicole.
Despite the sentence, Nicole expressed dissatisfaction, stating, "Getting my message out there has helped me feel so much stronger, because I didn't see a way out.
I want others to speak out." She highlighted that McMahon, father to four children, was initially remanded and charged but later lowered charges were accepted by prosecutors.
She emphasized that she believes justice has not been fully served and warns that he is still dangerous.
