A man responsible for attacking and strangling a woman before headbutting a police officer received a prison sentence.
Jordan McKnight, aged 23, carried out an assault on his former partner at a residence in Bestwood on 7 July, during which he put her in a headlock and limited her airflow.
While emergency services assisted the woman inside the property, McKnight was detained outside by a police dog handler.
Following his detention, he became progressively more agitated, repeatedly threatening to harm officers and then headbutting one of them.
The victim later reported additional incidents involving McKnight, including details of being pinned against a wall by her neck.
McKnight, also known as Tyler Bolt, claimed his actions were in self-defence after being assaulted.
He pleaded guilty to several charges: two counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of assault by beating, and one count of assaulting a police officer.
On Friday, at Nottingham Crown Court, McKnight, who had no fixed address, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
