NOTTINGHAM PAEDOPHILE CAUGHT HIDING CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN LOFT
Jonathan Read, aged 32, was found to have hidden an iPhone containing child abuse images in his attic in Mapperley, Nottingham. The police recovered the device during a raid and found it had been deliberately concealed, as Read was aware he was supposed to declare it due to a prior conviction.
The device held images of young girls engaged in sexual acts, along with nearly 200 images and videos of humans involved in sexual activities with animals such as dogs and horses.
Previously, Read had been handed a suspended sentence in 2021 for making indecent images of children, and he was on the sex offender register with a strict order to inform police of new devices.
During the latest search in 2023, officers also found a second iPhone in his bedroom, which he claimed he was unaware of possessing.
The court heard that he had breached a sexual harm prevention order by possessing and concealing these devices.
Additionally, the content included a category A image of a teen aged 13 to 15 engaged in sex, and numerous extreme images involving bestiality.
Read pleaded guilty to multiple charges including possession of indecent and extreme pornographic images, and breach of his existing order.
The court sentenced him to a 15-month prison term, suspended for 18 months, with additional requirements including unpaid work, a mental health program, and a financial penalty.
He will stay on the sex offender register for 10 years and remain subject to the order.
