HUDDERSFIELD MAN JAILED FOR ABUSIVE HARASSMENT AND RACIAL SLURS
A man named John Tordoff, living on Bradley Mills Lane in Huddersfield, has been sentenced after harassing his ex's mother over a two-month period.
Tordoff verbally abused her, calling her a 'f*****g fat tramp' and expressing hope that she would die.
This abusive behavior occurred as he bombarded her with numerous unwanted calls and text messages following the breakdown of their 18-month relationship, which ended in January of the previous year when he caused criminal damage to her door.
Despite receiving a harassment warning from police, the abuse persisted between June 9 and August 14, during which he made 74 calls and sent 14 text messages.
The victim, frustrated and scared, just wanted to be left alone, especially as Tordoff continued to harass her by using her home address to make applications for credit cards without her consent.
He admitted to using her address but claimed he was unable to change it due to issues with his driving license.
Prosecutor Alex Bozman stated that the victim felt angry because he ignored the harassment warning and she had to deal with the constant fear and discomfort.
The magistrates sentenced Tordoff to a six-month community order with 15 rehabilitation activity days aimed at addressing his offending behavior, along with a 12-month restraining order preventing him from contacting her or approaching within 100 meters of her residence.
Additionally, he was fined £200 and required to pay court costs and a victim surcharge of £85 each.
