JOHN ROBERTSON OF AUCHINLECK: HORRIFIC ANIMAL CRUELTY AND DOMESTIC ABUSE REVEALED

John Robertson, born on December 17, 1977, and residing on Main Street in Auchinleck with the postal code KA18 2AF, has been at the center of a disturbing series of criminal acts that have shocked the local community and garnered widespread media attention. His most heinous act involved the brutal killing of a beloved family pet, a bulldog named Gus, which he bludgeoned to death using a rolling pin. This act was reportedly carried out with the disturbing intent to 'teach him a lesson,' according to sources close to the case.

Robertson, a former prison officer, was convicted and sentenced to 18 months in prison for an eight-year campaign of domestic violence that targeted his partner, their children, and ultimately culminated in the tragic death of Gus. The abuse was described as relentless and manipulative, with Robertson exhibiting a pattern of controlling behavior that extended to physical violence against family members and cruelty towards animals.

One victim recounted the horrifying incident involving the dog, stating, 'He attacked Gus as he ran into the room, then laughed and joked about what he had done.' Witnesses described scenes of chaos, with blood splattered across the walls and children screaming in terror. The victim expressed disbelief and outrage, questioning, 'How could you kill an innocent animal?'

In 2016, Robertson was found guilty of seven assault charges, including causing unnecessary suffering to Gus. Court records reveal that he admitted to slapping children on the head, pinning them against walls, and punching them on various parts of their bodies. One young boy was reportedly grabbed by the torso and had his head struck against a door. Robertson also assaulted a one-year-old girl, knocking her to the ground, and was accused of flinging a child through the air during episodes of violence.

Despite the severity of his crimes, the court did not impose a ban on Robertson keeping animals. Following his sentencing, he served his prison term but was released early in July 2020 after serving only half of his sentence. Reports from The Scottish Sun confirmed that Robertson was now living with a woman, her children, and two dogs, indicating that he had resumed a domestic life despite his violent history.

In a troubling development, shortly after his release, Robertson was employed by Alloway property maintenance and pest control company, Acatch. This firm, owned by a relative of Robertson—who has reportedly had his own run-ins with the law over drug-related issues—sends employees into vulnerable households. The company was contacted for a statement regarding Robertson’s employment but has yet to respond. It is noteworthy that the company is aware of Robertson’s violent past but has continued to employ him.

Robertson is engaged to a woman who has stood by him despite his criminal record, which includes domestic violence, animal cruelty, and other violent offenses. Meanwhile, Robertson’s former partner, who was forced to relocate from Auchinleck due to safety concerns, remains in a state of constant fear. The court’s decision not to restrict Robertson’s contact with her and their children has left her feeling vulnerable and terrified, as she continues to live in a property under the shadow of his potential retribution.
