CHRIS BYDIE BOYD'S DOMESTIC ASSAULT IN AUCHINLECK: TAGGING ORDER REVOKED BEFORE SENTENCING
A man accused of assaulting his partner in Auchinleck has had his temporary electronic tagging order lifted, allowing him to complete ongoing contractual work prior to his sentencing.Christopher George Boyd, a 38-year-old with a distinctive '21' tattoo on his face and a beard, appeared before Ayr Sheriff Court to request a modification of his bail conditions. During the hearing, Boyd was granted permission to amend his bail, specifically to revoke the electronic monitoring requirement that had been imposed on him.
Boyd is currently awaiting sentencing for a domestic assault that took place on December 23, 2024. The incident occurred at his residence on Ballochmyle Avenue, where he allegedly seized his partner by the hair, pulled her to the ground, and struck her on the head, causing injury. The offence was classified as domestically aggravated, reflecting the nature of the relationship and the circumstances of the attack.
His defence solicitor, Robert Campbell, explained that Boyd wished to suspend the tagging order temporarily to complete contractual work outside his home address. The request was considered by Sheriff Shirley Foran, who responded, “In the particular circumstances, I will allow the request to revoke the electronic monitoring.”
Despite the revocation of the tagging order, Boyd will remain on bail and is scheduled to face sentencing at a later date. The court’s decision to allow the temporary removal of the monitoring device indicates a consideration of his work commitments, but the case remains ongoing as Boyd awaits his formal sentencing.
