A vile child rapist ‘high-fived his toddler victim when she performed sex acts on him’ The original sentencing involved a nine-year jail term, with an additional year on license following his release.
However, this was challenged by the Solicitor-General, Robert Buckland QC, who argued the punishment was insufficient given the severity of the crimes.
The Court of Appeal agreed, stating that the sentencing process had gone wrong.
Lord Justice Davis stated that the victim was “undoubtedly particularly vulnerable due to her extreme youth,” and the original sentence was unduly lenient.
The court increased Warry’s sentence to a minimum of 12 years’ imprisonment and added an extended license period of one year.
Warry denied the abuse when speaking with a probation officer, claiming the girl was a “storyteller,” and maintained this stance during court proceedings.
The case attracted significant media attention, emphasizing the severity and outrage surrounding the offences.
