SUSPENDED SENTENCE IMPOSED ON FORMER CROOK COUNCIL BIN MAN FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
John Pearson, a 42-year-old man, confessed to viewing child abuse images after police discovered on his phone 64 videos and two still images classified in the most severe category, along with additional videos and pictures, including acts of bestiality.These items were found during a search of his home in Crook.
Pearson, who formerly worked as a council bin man for 16 years, resigned from his position following his arrest.
He admitted to three counts of possessing indecent images of children and one count of possessing extreme pornography.
Durham Crown Court sentenced him to nine months in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered him to complete 30 rehabilitation sessions.
He was also given a 12-week home curfew, required to register as a sex offender for ten years, and subject to restrictions on internet use under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years.
Additionally, a deprivation order was issued for the phone used to access the illegal material, acknowledging his substantial collection of such content.
