JOHN HUGHES SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND DRUG SUPPLY IN MILFORD HAVEN

In a case that has shocked the community of Milford Haven, John Hughes, a 47-year-old man from Edward Street, was sentenced to a total of two years in prison following his conviction on charges of sexual assault and supplying controlled substances.

The incident involved a 14-year-old girl, and the court proceedings revealed disturbing details about Hughes's actions.

Hughes was found guilty after a trial at Swansea Crown Court, despite his initial denial of both charges.

The prosecution, led by Mark Spackman, outlined that Hughes had given cannabis to the young girl before engaging in a sexual assault.

The court heard that Hughes had touched the girl’s breasts beneath her clothing, an act that was deemed inappropriate and criminal.

Judge Christopher Morton delivered the sentence, sentencing Hughes to 12 months for the sexual assault and an additional 12 months for the drug supply.

The judge explained that Hughes’s motive for supplying cannabis appeared to be either as a reward for allowing him to fondle her or as a form of coercion, implying that if she disclosed the assault, he would reveal her cannabis use.

Despite the severity of the allegations, Judge Morton acknowledged that no physical force was used during the incident.

As part of his sentence, Hughes was also prohibited from working with children in any capacity and was ordered to register as a sex offender with the police for the next ten years.

The case has raised concerns among residents of Milford Haven, highlighting the importance of vigilance and safeguarding vulnerable individuals within the community.
