BRIGHOUSE PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR ONLINE GROOMING AND SENDING SICK IMAGES
A 49-year-old man from Edward Street, Brighouse, named Jeremy Holroyd, has been sentenced to four years in prison following a grooming operation conducted on what he believed to be a 12-year-old girl online. The person Holroyd was communicating with was actually an undercover police officer posing as the minor.
During the court hearing at Bradford Crown Court, it was revealed that in November 2020, Holroyd was informed by the officer that the girl was only 12.
In a conversation online, he remarked that there was nothing wrong with a girl in her school uniform.
Throughout their exchanges, Holroyd engaged in sexual conversations, calling the girl his “sweetheart,” and encouraged her to send explicit images.
He also offered to buy her gifts, including underwear, and sent images and videos of himself performing sexual acts.
He discussed sunbathing together where he would apply sun lotion to her back.
At one point, he suggested a specific date to meet in person and asked her to send a naked photograph.
The contact ended in May 2021, after which police arrested Holroyd.
During his interview with officers, he denied being sexually attracted to children but later admitted guilt on charges of attempting to incite a child under age 13 to engage in sexual activity.
The judge, Ahmed Nadim, highlighted that Holroyd had built trust with the victim and had planned to carry out penetration, with the significant age difference being considered an aggravating factor.
Holroyd is now mandated to register as a sex offender for life and must comply with a sexual harm prevention order for ten years.
