BRIGHOUSE MAN JAILED FOR TWO-YEAR CAMPAIGN OF DOMESTIC ABUSE AND VIOLENCE
A man named Jack Dawson, aged 29, has been sentenced after a prolonged two-year period of domestic violence and abuse against his partner.
Dawson was found guilty of controlling and coercive behavior from early 2022 until June 2024.
In a particularly frightening incident, Dawson physically pinned down his partner and threatened to harm her eye, saying he would "take out one of her eyes." The victim, who kept her ordeal secret for years, shared a statement saying, "This was a dark secret I kept for years which is now in the open." Dawson also admitted to an assault at the Black Bull pub in Brighouse in December 2023, where he punched a man who was out with colleagues, resulting in fractures to the man's eye socket and nose, along with nerve damage causing numbness.
Judge Colin Burn described both incidents as very serious and noted that Dawson's behavior involved a "lengthy campaign" of domestic abuse.
Dawson was sentenced to three years in prison and received a ten-year restraining order banning any contact with his ex-partner.
