BRADFORD MAN JAILED FOR TERRIFYING HOME ROBBERY IN BRIGHOUSE
A thug has been jailed for six years after he subjected a vulnerable woman to a terrifying and degrading robbery in her own Brighouse home.The complainant, who lived alone, was woken in the early hours when David Marshall and an accomplice launched an attack on a man who had come to visit the woman's home in January.
The beating, which the woman attempted to stop, was believed to be linked to an ongoing feud between Marshall and another man, but the victim refused to cooperate with any prosecution.
Marshall, who had prior convictions for assault, affray, and wounding, turned his attention to the woman after she pleaded with him to leave her friend alone.
He pushed her back onto the bed in her nightwear, aimed a two-fingered gun gesture toward her head, and stole her iPad and mobile phone.
A victim personal statement was read out, where the woman described feeling like she was having a heart attack during the incident.
She remains in fear that Mr Marshall may return and do her further injury.
It was revealed that the stolen items contained important photographs and memories of a friend who had passed away.
Marshall, residing at Crawford Avenue, Bradford, pleaded guilty on the day of the trial at Bradford Crown Court to charges of robbery and perverting the course of justice.
It was mentioned that a few days after the robbery, Marshall tried to persuade the victim not to go to the police.
The judge, Recorder Anthony Hawks, sentenced Marshall to six years and also imposed an indefinite restraining order banning Marshall from any future contact with the complainant.
The court heard that the woman was confronted suddenly by Marshall and his accomplice in her bedroom, describing it as extremely frightening.
Marshall's previous criminal record was discussed, emphasizing the gravity of the offence.
The judge highlighted how the woman was invaded in her own secure space for his own purposes.
