THORNABY MAN JAILED FOR VIOLENCE AND CRACK COCAINE SALES
Jay Curry, a 34-year-old man from Thornaby, has been involved in multiple criminal activities and violent behavior. He previously served a 27-month jail sentence after attacking his partner, Kendra Mcquilling, during an argument where he accused her of flirting with other men while she was drinking.
Recently, Curry was brought back to Teesside Crown Court from Durham prison to face charges related to drug dealing.
Prosecutor Chris Baker revealed that Curry had sold crack cocaine in £20 deals to an undercover police officer in January and February of the previous year.
The officer initially befriended two drug addicts on Yarm Road in Stockton and bought drugs from Curry on January 9.
Curry then provided his phone number to the officer, leading to a subsequent £20 deal on February 12.
Curry pleaded guilty to being involved in the supply of crack cocaine, including three charges of supplying it to the officer.
He has an extensive criminal record with 55 previous convictions.
Recorder Mark McKone KC sentenced Curry to three years and nine months in prison, which he will begin after completing his current sentence.
His lawyer, John Nixon, acknowledged his client's long record but explained that Curry lost his job during the pandemic, which led him to sell drugs to support his own drug habit.
The court acknowledged that Curry faces a long prison sentence, and he is expected to start his new term after serving his current one.
