JASON JONES FROM HOVE CAUGHT FILMING WOMEN IN POOL CHANGING ROOMS AND POSSESSING EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY
In October 2017, a disturbing case emerged involving Jason Jones, a 36-year-old man from Hove, who was found guilty of secretly recording women and young girls in leisure centre changing rooms.Despite the severity of his actions, Jones was ultimately spared a custodial sentence after his appearance at Brighton Crown Court.
Jones, who is a father of two children and was known to some as Peter Antolik, was caught in the act at The Triangle leisure centre located in Burgess Hill.
The incident occurred on January 28 of that year, when Jones was observed attempting to film a woman as she was changing inside a cubicle in the mixed-sex changing area.
The victim’s boyfriend, who had gone to speak with her, noticed an iPhone and what appeared to be an eye peering into the cubicle.
Recognizing the suspicious behavior, he banged on the door, prompting Jones, who was at the leisure centre with his wife and children, to come out of the cubicle.
Staff at the facility detained Jones until police arrived.
During the arrest, Jones attempted to delete the video he had taken.
However, authorities later recovered the footage and discovered additional disturbing content on his phone, including a video of a young girl changing at the Prince Regent Swimming Complex in Brighton, recorded months prior.
Further investigation revealed that Jones possessed a collection of extreme pornographic images, including explicit videos depicting animals such as horses, dogs, chickens, and a calf engaged in sexual acts.
Police seized Jones’s devices and found that his laptop contained approximately 360 extreme pornographic images, many of which were stored in deleted files.
The images included graphic depictions of bestiality and other illegal acts.
Jones, a Slovakian immigrant who moved to the UK in 2005, pleaded guilty to four charges: attempted voyeurism, voyeurism, making an indecent photograph of a child, and possessing extreme pornography involving animals.
Prosecutor Trina Little outlined the case, emphasizing the gravity of Jones’s offenses.
She highlighted that he had a prior criminal record with three theft-related convictions before arriving in the UK.
The court was told that Jones’s actions were not isolated incidents but part of a pattern of disturbing behavior.
In his sentencing, Judge Guy Anthony acknowledged the seriousness of the crimes but decided against imposing a custodial sentence.
Instead, he handed Jones an 18-month suspended sentence for two years.
The judge noted that Jones’s guilty plea, family circumstances, and previous good character were factors in his decision.
Additionally, Jones was ordered to participate in a sex offenders treatment program for 34 days, attend 20 rehabilitation sessions, and complete 150 hours of unpaid community work.
Judge Anthony also expressed surprise that the Crown had not applied for a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to restrict Jones’s access to phones and prevent further offenses.
Despite the gravity of the case, the court’s decision aimed to balance punishment with the potential for rehabilitation, given Jones’s cooperation and background.
