HOVE MAN HAS SLAVERY AND TRAFFICKING RISK ORDER IMPOSED
A man has been hit with a strict court order banning him from contacting children in a major exploitation probe.Mohammed Macallin, 20, now faces a raft of tough restrictions for the next two years after a Slavery and Trafficking Risk Order was imposed.
Sussex Police got the order after a long investigation into the exploitation of vulnerable people linked to suspected drug dealing.
Brighton Magistrates’ Court imposed the Slavery and Trafficking Risk Order on January 28.
Detective Inspector Anthony Gander said: “The court recognised the significant risk Macallin poses to young and vulnerable people and we are pleased to now have these protective measures in place.” Macallin, of St Leonards Avenue, Hove, is banned from contacting any child under 18 unless it is unavoidable or a parent agrees.
He is also banned from having more than one mobile phone or SIM card, and it must be registered in his name.
The court order places strict limits on Mohammed Macallin’s contact with young and vulnerable people.
He is also barred from arranging transport or accommodation for anyone outside his immediate family.
The order bans him from having drug paraphernalia or contacting anyone about selling or carrying controlled drugs.
Macallin must not make or share social media videos showing assaults or exploitation, or glorifying drug dealing.
“Slavery and Trafficking Risk Orders are vital in reducing perpetrators’ ability to cause harm to those people without securing a conviction,” DI Gander added.
“We will always act proactively and use all the tools at our disposal to keep our communities safe.” The order applies across the entire United Kingdom.
Any breach could see Macallin jailed for up to five years.
Police are urging anyone with concerns about exploitation to report them.
DI Gander said: “If you’re concerned that someone you know is being exploited or if you are a victim of exploitation, don’t hesitate to report it to us on 101.
Always call 999 in an emergency.”
