LINCOLN MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS FOR MULTIPLE CHILD SEXUAL OFFENCES
A man from Lincoln has been sentenced to jail after being convicted of nine sexual offences against children.Jason Hallam, who was previously residing in Scopwick Place, carried out his crimes over multiple years, with the earliest offences dating back to the early 2000s.
The charges against the 39-year-old include two counts of indecent assault and one of indecency with a child under 13, involving two different victims.
Hallam pleaded guilty to two indecent assault counts related to one victim, while facing trial for charges involving the other victim.
The trial spanned seven days, culminating in a unanimous guilty verdict after six hours of jury deliberation.
Hallam appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Thursday, 23 May, and was sentenced to ten years in prison.
He is to serve five and a half years behind bars, with the remaining time plus an additional year on license.
Furthermore, Hallam will be registered on the sex offenders' register for life and was issued an order to prevent sexual harm.
He also received restraining orders protecting the victims.
The allegations first came to light in 2019, prompting a lengthy investigation by Lincolnshire Police and partner agencies.
Detective Constable Caroline Pendell praised the victims for their bravery, stating: "Today’s sentencing of Hallam is a day that the brave victims never thought would ever come.
They felt that as children, their voices weren’t heard, but now as adults, their voices have most definitely been heard and are reflected in the sentences imposed today." She highlighted the collaborative effort of various agencies working tirelessly during the pandemic to ensure justice.
The investigation was notably victim-centered, with special recognition given to Case Officer Julie Balodis for her dedication and professionalism.
Authorities have urged victims of sexual assault, offence, or rape to report these crimes, emphasizing that even uncertain victims should come forward for their safety and support.
