MAN JAILED FOR 13 YEARS FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
A man convicted of multiple counts of rape and sexual assault has been sentenced to 13 years in prison.Jamie Twigg, residing on Jellicoe Avenue in Lincoln, received his sentence at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday, June 5.
This followed an eight-day trial during which he was found guilty of the charges.
The 43-year-old faced eight counts, including two of raping a child and two of sexually assaulting others.
Twigg denied all allegations, which were alleged to have occurred between 2014 and 2023.
During the hearing on June 4, the victim delivered an emotional personal statement, explaining how the abuse deprived them of their childhood.
They expressed that the experience would affect them for life but also conveyed their resolve to live a positive life after justice is served.
In addition to the 13-year prison term, Twigg was issued a sexual harm prevention order and an indefinite restraining order.
Detective Constable Bell from Lincolnshire Police’s Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit commented on the case, stating that the investigation was thorough and lengthy, spanning nearly a decade.
Bell emphasized the police force's commitment to protecting children and ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable.
The officer also highlighted the ongoing need to support victims of sexual offences, encouraging anyone affected to report such incidents—assuring them that assistance is available, even if they are not ready to speak upfront.
