CONVICTED RAPIST JAMES TROTT JAILED AFTER VIOLENT ASSAULT OVER WASHING MACHINE
A convicted rapist named James Trott, residing on Marion Street in Sunderland, has been sentenced to 37 months in prison after pleading guilty to unlawful wounding, burglary, attempted burglary, and failing to provide a drugs test sample.Trott's violent conduct was triggered by an incident where his partner hadn't fully loaded the washing machine.
According to court reports, Trott launched a brutal assault on her, during which he punched her in the head and arms, bit her on the face, and brandished an empty Stanley knife case against her face, causing a small wound and blood to pour down her face.
The woman sustained cuts to her cheek and lip, as well as bruising to her arms, thumb, and shoulder.
She described feeling devastated, shaken, and terrified, with her memories of past abuse flooding back.
The attack occurred after Trott had consumed alcohol following the death of his aunt and had warned his partner he was "going to get locked up." During the assault, he also pushed the case of the Stanley knife against her face and threatened her.
The woman managed to escape and called police from a payphone.
Trott, who was previously jailed in 2020 for rape and was on bail for burglary and attempted burglary, was arrested following this incident.
In addition to his jail term, he was subjected to a 10-year restraining order banning him from contacting the victim.
The court acknowledged Trott's remorse and mental health struggles, but emphasized the seriousness of his violent actions, which could have been disfiguring.
