WOMAN RAPED BY 'POWERFUL' PREDATOR AFTER SINISTER FIRE ALARM TRAP
A man responsible for a horrific assault, who triggered a fire alarm and forcibly entered his victim's room to carry out his attack, has been sentenced to prison.James Langhammer, aged 43, manipulated the young woman, intoxicated her, and falsely claimed that his mother had passed away to gain her sympathy and try to initiate a sexual encounter.
When she rejected his advances, he concluded that he would have sex with her regardless of her consent.
Following his trial at Hull Crown Court, he was found guilty of rape and attempted rape.
The court was informed on Friday that he targeted the woman while staying in Bridlington.
Additionally, Langhammer appeared to receive a sentence for assault causing actual bodily harm after admitting to punching a man without warning or provocation.
The judge ordered him to serve 12 years behind bars, with an extended six-year license period.
He is required to serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before applying for parole.
The judge commented: "I have listened to the victim statement.
The court wishes her well in her recovery but is almost certain she will not fully recover from your offending.
She had to relive it during her evidence and when you falsely claimed she had sexually assaulted you.
It is evident from her testimony that this was extremely distressing for her."
