EAST YORKSHIRE MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILD IN KIRKLEES
An East Yorkshire man has been sentenced to more than 11 years for the sexual abuse of a child in Kirklees.Andrew Garbutt, aged 42, from Wentworth Road, Bridlington, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court for one count of sexual assault on a child, two counts of possessing indecent photos, and one count of voyeurism.
He will serve six years and three months in prison and the remaining time on licence.
Garbutt is required to sign the sex offenders register for life and adhere to a sexual harm prevention order.
The offences came to light in August 2023 when the victim reported the assault to her family, leading to police intervention.
Garbutt was arrested and safeguarding officers seized his devices which contained incriminating evidence.
He was charged in July 2024 and admitted his offences earlier this year.
