STRATFORD-UPON-AVON COUPLE JAILED FOR SADISTIC MURDER OF BETHANY HILL
Jack Williams, aged 21, was convicted along with his transgender partner, Kayleigh Woods, aged 23, for the brutal and sadistic murder of Bethany Hill, a 20-year-old woman. The incident occurred in February last year in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Bethany was found in a bloodied bathroom of their shared flat in Hertford Road, with her throat slit and her wrists and ankles bound with tape.
The court heard that Bethany’s body was left lying in the flat for over 12 hours before her death was discovered.
The prosecution described the killing as sadistic, with a knife repeatedly used to sever Bethany’s neck after her wrists had been restrained.
The jury quickly found both Williams and Woods guilty of murder, recognizing the brutality involved.
Williams' defense claimed he was suffering from mental health issues that caused him to blackout prior to the killing, but the jury dismissed this as false, citing the evidence of their dishonesty and elaborate efforts to cover their tracks.
The judge sentenced Williams to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 26 years and told the court: “The evidence compels me to this being a sadistic killing.
The circumstances of the killing demonstrate a complicated, emotional chemistry.
There is the possibility that the motivation for this killing may have had a sexual aspect.” Woods, who was born male, maintained her innocence during the trial, claiming she only went along with Williams' plans out of fear.
The court was told that she had previously expressed fears of being next and that she only participated under duress.
Witnesses reported hearing sounds of moaning and slamming in the early hours of February 3, along with aggressive noises from a cutlery drawer, indicating a violent altercation.
A neighbor recounted hearing what they thought was a head hitting a wall.
Additionally, some witnesses indicated that Woods and Williams had been interested in satanic rituals and mentioned a church where such activities supposedly took place, with Williams’ stepbrother noting they appeared to research online and spoke of The Illuminati.
Police found a Barbie doll belonging to Woods in the flat, with marks on its neck and gaffer tape around its limbs, suggesting a disturbing context to their interests and activities.
The police and detectives branded the murder as completely cold-blooded and lacking remorse from the perpetrators, emphasizing the brutality and premeditation involved in the case.
The court's findings highlighted that Bethany was a vulnerable and innocent young woman, brutally killed for perverted pleasure in a case marked by deception and violence, with the court describing the killers’ actions as profoundly sadistic and motivated possibly by a sexual component.
