MANSFIELD OFFENDER JACK JEFFRIES JAILED FOR ASSAULT AND STRANGULATION
A woman was beaten and strangled in her own home during a terrifying attack in Mansfield.Jack Jeffries attacked the woman in her residence during an argument on April 2, 2023.
During the incident, the 21-year-old placed his hands around the victim's neck until she nearly lost consciousness.
Nottinghamshire Police responded shortly after 7am and subsequently arrested Jeffries.
He later admitted to one count of common assault and one count of intentional strangulation, a charge introduced in 2022 to better protect victims of abuse.
Jeffries appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, September 19, and was sentenced to 11 months in jail.
Additionally, he was issued a restraining order to prevent any contact with the victim.
Detective Constable Henry Foster from Nottinghamshire Police stated, "The victim in this case was not seriously injured but she was very much in fear of her life at the time of this attack.
Jeffries’ actions could easily have had tragic consequences and I am pleased he has now been given a custodial sentence.
I also hope this case serves as a reminder to others about how seriously we take this kind of assault."
