IZTULLAH QUDRAT AND GHAUSEL TARAKHAIL FROM HEADINGTON AND COWLEY ROAD OXFORD SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF 14-YEAR-OLD BOY IN BURY KNOWLE PARK
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Oxford, two young men have been convicted and sentenced for their involvement in the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old boy. The incidents, which occurred over a span of several months, have raised serious concerns about safety and the protection of minors within the city.In February 2014, both Iztullah Qudrat, aged 19, and Ghausel Tarakhail, aged 20, appeared before Oxford Crown Court to face charges related to their misconduct. Qudrat, a resident of High Cross Way in Headington, admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the young victim inside toilets located in Bury Knowle Park, a popular recreational area in Headington. The abuse took place between April and June of the previous year, and Qudrat’s actions have been described as a direct violation of the boy’s innocence and trust.
Ghausel Tarakhail, who resides on Cowley Road in Oxford, also pleaded guilty to inciting the 14-year-old to participate in sexual acts. His involvement was linked to incidents that occurred between May and July of the same year, in East Oxford. Tarakhail’s role was that of encouraging or persuading the young boy to engage in inappropriate sexual conduct, further compounding the severity of the case.
Both men were found guilty and subsequently sentenced to two years and three months in a detention centre. In addition to their custodial sentences, they were placed on the sex offender register for a period of ten years, a measure designed to monitor and prevent further offenses. Furthermore, they were issued a sex offender prevention order, which will remain in effect for five years, restricting their activities and contact with minors to safeguard the community.
The court proceedings revealed that the incidents took place over a period stretching from April to July, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior. The judge, Patrick Eccles, emphasized the gravity of the offenses and indicated that a decision regarding the appropriate length of detention or alternative sentencing would be made during the sentencing hearing.
Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities are actively pursuing additional suspects connected to the case. Police are still searching for 17-year-old Ismail Dilsoz, also from Headington, who has been charged with raping the same boy. Dilsoz has not been seen since August, and his disappearance has added another layer of concern to an already troubling case. The community and authorities alike are calling for justice and increased vigilance to protect vulnerable young people from similar threats in the future.
