IMRAN YASEEN SENTENCED IN NOTTINGHAM FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST FEMALE PASSENGER

A taxi driver from Nottingham has been handed a 16-month prison sentence after his own dashcam footage revealed him committing serious sexual offenses against a female passenger. The incident took place in the heart of Nottingham city center, where the driver, Imran Yaseen, targeted the woman around 23:00 GMT on February 14.

According to Nottinghamshire Police, the victim, a woman in her 30s, was seated in the front passenger seat of Yaseen's taxi when he began to behave inappropriately. He made lewd remarks and proceeded to touch her leg, actions that quickly escalated into a more serious assault. The police reported that Yaseen's misconduct did not end there; he later stopped the vehicle near Clifton and subjected the woman to a sexual assault of a grave nature.

Following the incident, Yaseen was arrested the very next day. The authorities identified him through the taxi company's records, which included the internal dashboard camera footage installed in the vehicle. This camera, intended to protect both drivers and passengers, captured the entire sequence of events, providing crucial evidence for the case. When investigators reviewed the footage, they could see and hear everything that transpired, leaving Yaseen with little room for denial.

In March, Yaseen, who resides on Burnside Road in Bilborough, pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault during his appearance at Nottingham Crown Court. His conviction was based heavily on the damning evidence obtained from the dashcam. As part of his sentencing, Yaseen was also placed under a sexual harm prevention notice and was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years. This order explicitly prevents him from driving a taxi or engaging in similar activities involving passenger transport during that period.

PC Tom Gregory, commenting on the case, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome. He stated, "This was an opportunistic assault on a vulnerable female passenger, and I am pleased Yaseen has now been jailed. The victim trusted him to take her home safely, but he exploited her trust in a prolonged sexual assault. Thanks to the evidence from his dashcam, he had little choice but to plead guilty, and he will serve a significant prison sentence."
