IMRAN CHAUDHRY JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING WOMAN IN HUDDERSFIELD
A man grabbed a young woman by the throat in Huddersfield town centre and sexually assaulted her.
**Imran Chaudhry**, 38, was jailed for this drunken attack on the 21-year-old as she was walking alone around 4.15am on December 10 last year.
Joe Culley, prosecuting, told Leeds Crown Court that the victim had been out with her friends and intended to meet them at the pub after some of her friends went to get food.
As she walked past McDonald’s on Kirkgate, she noticed two men following her.
One of these men, Chaudhry, moved forward and used both hands to pull her towards him, touching her inappropriately and pulling her into a shop doorway.
She pushed him away, but he put his left hand around her throat and tried to touch her private parts.
She was rescued by friends and a doorman who detained Chaudhry until police arrived.
Chaudhry, now of Oak Street in Burton-Upon-Trent, Staffordshire, pleaded guilty to indecent assault, claiming he was so drunk he could not remember what he did.
He was sentenced to 20 months in prison and banned from Huddersfield town centre.
The victim, who suffered from depression worsened by the incident, lost her job after taking time off to recover.
She now rarely goes out alone due to the experience.
